I do agree that parents are outsourcing parenting knowingly but it is not reasonless. We should also respect the feelings of the parents they are toiling up hard and earning just to fulfill the needs of the child.they are not there at home the whole day so when they come back home and if find the child in a problem(it may be not a actual problem they become overprotected. whats wrong with it.

I couldn't agree with you more in regards to watching a parent give it at any cost to a young child throwing a temper tantrum. Whether it be caving in to purchase a toy at the grocery store or bad behavior at a restaurant there is nothing more frustrating than watching a parent that is afraid to discipline. Parenting is not meant to be easy but at some point we have to show who the adult is and take control of situations. Otherwise you are opening the door to letting your child get away with anything at any time.

I'm a child therapist and I can relate to your insights. Parents bring me their child and want me to "fix" him. They come to a consultation with a stack of evaluations they've put their child through in hopes of finding out what's wrong. It's not unusual for the evaluations to be inconclusive yet the parents continue to search for a diagnosis because it's easier to say "this is why I can't parent this child" rather than "I don't know how to parent this child."

<em>Thank you Pam. Yes, I've heard that request (overtly and covertly) to "fix" their child all too often. Though most parents know better, there are way too many that simplify it down to a simple "fix," as if they were asking for their car's problem to just be "fixed." :(
